"Your configuration has changed please reinstall Pivot" error shows each time the system boots up, indicating that Pivot needs to be reinstalled. Reinstalling does not resolve the issue.
The most common cause of this issue is that there is no display driver installed for your display adapter or the driver is out of date. By default, when Windows is installed, it will install a limited graphics driver that will allow you to see the screen so that you may install the driver that came with your graphics adapter. You should download and install an updated driver from your graphics adapter manufacturer's web site.
Determine your display adapter.
Once new display drivers have been installed, Pivot will prompt you to reinstall. Once reinstalled, you should be able to rotate your screen by right clicking on the desktop and choosing the angle of rotation you wish to use.
Another possible cause is remote control software such as PC Anywhere and/or Remotely Possible has been installed on the system. If you have such software installed, it must be uninstalled completely from the system prior to installing Pivot. Once the remote control software has been removed, you can install Pivot. Once Pivot has been reinstalled and is working, then you can reinstall the remote control software. NOTE: This problem does not occur with the Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop or RealVNC.
The problem could also be that the display adapters Hardware Acceleration is turned off. Right click on the desktop and choose properties from the resulting menu to bring up your Display Properties. Click on the Settings tab, then on the Advanced button and then on the Troubleshooting tab. Make sure your hardware acceleration is set to full.
You may also see this problem if you are running Windows 2003/2007 server. At this time we do not officially support Windows 2003/2007 server.
You may also be able to resolve this issue by updating to the current version of Pivot.
TopThe primary monitor rotates correctly but additional monitors will not rotate.
NOTE: This function is supported in Windows 2000 or greater.
You can pivot the secondary monitor in several ways. The key to both methods is where the mouse cursor is at the time you invoke the command.
Right Click method:
To use the right click method, simply right click on the desktop of the monitor you wish to rotate and choose the angle of rotation from the resulting menu.
Hot Key method:
By default, Pivot uses the following Hot Keys:
- Ctrl+Shift+R = rotate screen clockwise by 90 degrees.
- Ctrl+Shift+0 = rotate to landscape.
- Ctrl+Shift+9 = rotate to 90 degrees.
- Ctrl+Shift+8 = rotate to 180 degrees.
- Ctrl+Shift+7 = rotate to 270 degrees.
These can be reassigned to anything you want them to be by doing the following:
Right Click on the desktop where there are no icons and choose Properties from the resulting menu to bring up the Display Properties.Click on the Settings Tab, then on the Advanced button, on the Pivot Software tab, and finally on the Hot Key sub tab.
NOTE: In order to rotate secondary monitors separately, Windows and your display drivers must be configured to recognize each desktop separately. If you are running in Cloned mode where both monitors show the exact same desktop image, both screens will rotate. If you are running in Spanned mode where Windows sees both monitors as one big monitor, then both screens will rotate. You must be configured to run in Extended mode. Consult your display adapter's instructions for steps to configure dual desktop displays.

TopUsing the Pivot command line feature to rotate monitors from scripts or batch files.
Pivot Pro comes with a utility that allows you to rotate the screen from the MSDOS command line. This gives the user the option to use batch files, including AUTOEXEC.BAT to rotate the screen.
WPFLIP option switches are as follows.
- wpflip -0 (Will rotate the screen to Landscape)
- wpflip -90 (Will rotate the screen to Portrait)
- wpflip -180 (Will rotate the screen to 180)
- wpflip -270 (Will rotate the screen to 270)
Additionally you can control multiple monitors by using the -D option.
wpflip -D\\.\DISPLAY1 -90 (Will rotate monitor #1 to the Portrait position)
To rotate monitor 2 (or any additional monitor connected to the system) change the variable DISPLAYx to match the number of the display you wish to rotate. For example DISPLAY2 would rotate the secondary monitor connected to the system.
TopProblems during the installation or uninstallation of Pivot software.
Pivot, like many other programs, uses InstallSheild software for installation on to the system. Pivot installation errors are usually due to the InstallShield installer. Please try the following to resolve any InstallShield errors.
- Open the folder on your PC located at C:\Program Files\Common Files.
- Locate a folder called Installshield.
- Right click on the folder and click the option "Rename".
- Rename the folder to something like "Installshield_OLD".
- Close the folder and try to re-run the Pivot installer. The InstallShield folder will automatically be recreated.
If you have any problems uninstalling other applications that use InstallShield, simply restore the renamed folder.
If you do not find your Pivot issue, click on the Contact Support link and fill out a Support Request form. We typically answer most questions the same day, however plese allow 48 hours before resubmitting your request.
