Electronics announce Strategic Partnership For New On-Screen-Display Architecture Portrait Displays Display Tune® on-screen display (OSD) software with Auto Pivot and patented color calibration secures design win for select LGE liquid crystal display (LCD) displays. Portrait Displays, Inc., a global leader in visual enhancement software products for computer displays, today announced a strategic design-win partnership with L.G. Electronics (LGE), Korea, to provide a highly-customized version of its proprietary Display Tune OSD, Pivot® Pro, and patented color-calibration software applications for LGEs new line of rotational LCD displays. Called forteManager, LGEs customized version, includes core functionality licensed from Portrait Displays Display Tune, a powerful software application that allows users to bypass archaic hardware OSD buttons, instead adjusting various display functions such as contrast, brightness, and geometry from the keyboard or mouse. forteManager will debut on LGEs new 17-inch and 19-inch models, the L1780U and L1980U, respectively.
To support the rotational capabilities of the new LGE displays, forteManager also integrates Portrait Displays patented Pivot Pro software, the industrys leading rotation display software that lets users switch between landscape and portrait orientation, making documents, e-mail, and web browsing easier to manage. This customized version of Pivot Pro includes Portrait Displays Auto Pivot feature that automatically switches the LGE display to either landscape or portrait mode when the display is physically rotated by the user. For superior color performance, LGEs forteManager features Portrait Displays patented color-calibration Wizard tool, an easy six-step tuning process that allows displays to achieve the industry standard sRGB 2.2 gamma characteristics on LCD displays. By combining several of Portrait Displays visual enhancement products into a single control panel, forteManagers features and functionality far exceed any OSD available on todays displays and enhances the user's out-of-the-box, experience on any Windows®-based computer. For so many years, other PC hardware peripherals such as printers and scanners have been controlled with software. And now LGE and Portrait Displays have taken a leadership position by merging the software control functions of DisplayTune, Auto Pivot, and color calibration into LCD hardware, said J. Michael James, President and CEO of Portrait Displays. We are very pleased that LGE has partnered with Portrait Displays to offer this new standard for OSD software. Portrait Displays, with its world-leading Pivot Pro, Liquid View®, and Liquid Surf software, has been pioneering display software solutions since 1986. Portrait Displays software is bundled with displays from leading display manufacturers throughout the world. Portrait Displays, Inc., is a private corporation with headquarters in Pleasanton, California, USA; representatives in Europe, Taiwan, China, Korea, and a wholly-owned subsidiary in Tokyo, Japan: Portrait Displays K.K.
