Portrait Displays Partners with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to Advance Color Science and Next-Generation Display Technologies

June 13 2025 — Portrait Displays, the global leader in color calibration solutions, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Color Imaging and Metaverse Research Center at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to collaboratively advance research in color science and emerging display technologies.

 

Through this collaboration, Portrait Displays will provide its industry-leading Calman® software and hardware to the education and research activities carried out by the Research Center, focusing on color perception, imaging systems, display standards, and display calibration. It will facilitate the academic-industry integration to explore display performance evaluation, characterization, and future display technologies.

 

Recognized as a key research hub for color and imaging science and lighting technology, PolyU’s Color Imaging and Metaverse Research Center led by Prof. Minchen (Tommy) Wei focus on color perception, human factors, color management, display effect, camera calibration, and ISP pipeline. In addition, Prof. Wei also serves as Vice President of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) and Editor-in-Chief of Color Research & Application, actively participating in international standardization of color and vision science.
